The nominees
A stage for the work of student associations
Student associations carry much of the work of optometry education and outreach. The award recognises the association whose work has done the most for students, for eye health in its community and for the profession.
Introduced in 2026, the award is part of the Global Optometry Student Summit (GOSS), OPTOGLOBE’s annual flagship event. Nominated associations submit evidence of their work over the past year, an independent panel of leaders in global eye health assesses the finalists, and the laureate is announced live at the Summit.

Associations are nominated through the official nomination form.
2027: opening soonSubmission
Nominees submit a written impact report on the past twelve months, with supporting evidence.
Judging
An independent panel scores each submission and selects the finalists.
The Summit
Finalists present at the Global Optometry Student Summit, where the laureate is announced.
Dates for the 2027 edition will be published on this page when nominations open.

Each association is assessed out of one hundred points.
Screenings, outreach and measurable benefit to communities.
Originality and quality of the association’s initiatives.
Governance, member engagement and continuity.
Collaboration, inclusion and contribution beyond the association’s own institution.
The laureate receives
Optometry Student Association of the Year, announced before a global audience and held until the next Summit.
Funding to support the association’s programmes in the year that follows.
An award certificate signed by the judging panel, with recognition across OPTOGLOBE’s platforms.
