MZUZU UNIVERSITY OPTOMETRY STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (MUOSA) LAUCHES ONLINE WEBINAR.

MZUZU UNIVERSITY OPTOMETRY STUDENTS MAKE HISTORY WITH FIRST-EVER ONLINE WEBINAR SERIES.

In a landmark moment for optometry education in Malawi, the Mzuzu University Optometry Students Association (MUOSA) on 15th September 2026, officially launched its Online Webinar Platform, the first of its kind in the history of the association.

This initiative has never happened before. It marks the first time MUOSA has created a dedicated virtual platform to connect its students with the broader optometric world beyond the classroom.

Speaking during the launch, the both Guest of honor Mr George Moyo and MUOSA patron, described the webinar as a groundbreaking step towards modernizing student learning and professional exposure in Malawi.

The MUOSA president, Moffat Mtimauwawa said, the aim of this platform is to expose students to academic, entrepreneurship and other opportunities beyond the classroom.

The webinar series is designed to give students opportunities that the normal curriculum does not provide – including career guidance, clinical insights, research opportunities, entrepreneurship in eye health, and mentorship from qualified optometrists and other professionals globally.

“We wanted to create a space where a student in Malawi can learn from an expert anywhere in the world. Learning should not end when you leave the lecture room,” said the MUOSA President.

The platform will host seasoned optometrists, researchers, industry leaders and alumni to share practical realities of the profession and inspire the next generation of eye care professionals in Malawi.

This launch underscores MUOSA’s commitment to innovation and to raising a generation of optometrists who are not only clinically competent but also academically exposed, entrepreneurial, and globally connected.

The Association thanked MUOSA patron, Mr chikumba for his dedication and tirelessly support to MUOSA always once he is needed or not.

The association has called on all well-wishers, partners and professionals to support and participate in the upcoming webinar sessions.
