NOSA Launches Vision For Schools Initiative in Nigeria

February 6, 2026. Benin City, Nigeria.

The Nigerian Optometric Students Association (NOSA) has taken a bold step toward improving eye health awareness and inspiring future optometrists with the launch of the Vision For Schools Initiative in Benin City. OPTOGLOBE, The Global Optometry Student Community proudly partnered with NOSA to support this impactful program.

Bringing Eye Care to Schools

The Vision For Schools Initiative focuses on two main goals:

  1. Screening the vision of school children and staff to ensure early detection of vision problems.
  2. Encouraging students to explore optometry as a career, inspiring the next generation of eye care professionals.

By bringing eye care directly into schools, NOSA is not only raising awareness about the importance of healthy vision but also showing students that a career in optometry can be both rewarding and impactful.

OPTOGLOBE in Support

Representing OPTOGLOBE at the launch were Founder Pemije Gadimoh, Director of Membership and Engagement Abasiofon Ita, and Director of Advocacy and Public Engagement Adeboye Adetona. Together with NOSA members, the team engaged students in interactive sessions on eye health and conducted vision screenings for both students and school staff.

A Commitment to Education and Advocacy

The launch of Vision For Schools demonstrates NOSA’s leadership in community engagement, education, and advocacy. With support from OPTOGLOBE, the initiative not only provides practical eye care but also inspires students to consider careers that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Through this program, NOSA is proving that early awareness, timely intervention, and education can transform communities—one school at a time.
